Something about the screenshots makes it look really cold and uninviting, and frankly I think it doesn't look remarkably better than the original.

I'm not bowled over by it. I actually think it looks really good, but HD remakes are only good for people who never played the original, or people who don't get many games in the first place.

I can tell you right now, I have no time to replay a game from 10 years ago.. I got like 8 games coming between Feb-April and who knows how long it will take to finish those.

Im not. I beat the game already. What am I going to spend $50 to play a game I already own again? Derp, no.

Not only that but I absolutely loathed the sailing in the game. Even just making a left hand turn was a chore. I dont think I can deal with it again.
