I want my Wii U to be able to fit my television! It can do it in certain apps, but not system wide? Blasphemy!

Oh, you mean the size of the screen? Yeah, would be nice. But it doesn't affect games at least

The video it outputs is slightly zoomed in on some televisions. It's the television's problem, but it can be easily fixed if given the option.

I can look at black bars all day as long as I'm playing a game instead of staring at loading screens.

How big is your television?

I've seen it on a 32", a 42" and a 50" all with no problems.

I'm starting to suspect it's your manufacturer.

Insignia 32"
No idea what model. 720p and a DVD player in it if that helps. No way to adjust a setting like that in the menu either.

I'd love the option for some slight black bars. beats having the left and right sides of the screen chopped out. And my TV only lets me zoom in, not zoom out. >_<

720p televisions do not offer the ability to eliminate overscan.

You might want to upgrade to a 1080p television set unfortunately. Unless you want to wait for an update...
