So I just finished AC3.

Is it me or was the stealth basically non-existent? I mean there were some parts that were good some forts(SOME forts) but for the most part it was nowhere near what I had always heard as a Ninty only gamer except for the PSP. I suppose it didn't help that I had just finished Peace Walker again before it so I was used to it's, IMO, great stealth mechanics.

It was almost like the developers WANTED me to storm in with a tomahawk and just slaughter everyone in sight.

you're better off playing MGS

Yeah, kind of the same thing with the Vita version. There were a few moments of brilliance when the game actually tells you "there's a guy in here to kill, go get 'em" and let me pick a way to do it. I could actually be stealthy and it was fun. Too bad that was maybe two missions and the rest of the game sucked.

People were saying 1 and 2 were better after 3 came out, I hope it's true because I'd like an Assassin's Creed game that lets me be sneaky.

every one of the forts can be completed without ever being detected. Likewise many of the missions can have stealthy ways of going about them. It's like most open ended games, the developers let you choose how to go about it. Likewise many of the optional objectives encourage you to go through story missions with either never being detected or minimizing kills. Some are fairly tricky like that mission that requires you to take down the ships without being detected because they're bombarding the hill.

I love the freedom of it, but they should have made slaughtering hundreds a lot harder to make stealth more of a preference

I enjoyed the stealth more in Dishonored.
