Anyway, definitely Samus. She's a strong female character, yet her character is not defined by her being a female. She is more competent than most male protagonists, and she just happens to be a female character. I personally prefer her when she's in the Power Suit, 'cause that's when she's awesome.

Peach. She basically fits right into what I'd want in a woman. She's cute, ditzy, able to fend for herself, nice, etc. Plus she kicks ass in Smash Bros. I don't really feel like I could know Zelda as they are multiple entities with differing personalities though I do like the one from SS. I also don't feel that I would know Samus given she has only been truly fleshed out in Other M, and though I did like how she was portrayed, I still don't know much.

Metroid Zero Mission and Super Metroid are some of the finest 2D games ever made and are the best in the series.
Metroid Fusion is pretty cool I guess.

i can't think of too many stand-out female characters from nintendo aside from princess peach and samus.

i picked samus over peach because i think samus is more of a hero-type, lone renegade soldier. i'm a guy, so that probably appeals to me more than peach who is basically always in a pink dress.

and i dont like samus in her zero suit. i like her best in her armor.

edit: oh and i guess zelda is kinda cool, but again, not my appeal since she's almost always in a dress, so i can't relate to her as much. although she can be tough and heroic so i do like that.
