Resolution is not a huge deal

The only reason you can't tell the difference in 720p and 1080p is because no games this gen run at 1080p except for a very, very, very small amount.

It's all just upscaled by the console for the most part. It's not really 1080p.

If you have a 1080p TV and a 360 or PS3, boot up the demo of Rayman Origins. That game runs at 1080p 60fps. You'll immediately notice the difference.

I never knew til a couple years ago that most console games weren't actually weren't running in 1080p. Never cared and still don't. They still look awesome.

Ignorance is bliss.

Basically every modern TV is 1080p, upscaling is awful.

Personally, I don't like the look of Vaseline spread on my display

Resolution shouldn't stop you from buying a game, I'll still buy and enjoy Bayonetta 2 and whatever new exclusives the Wii U will get.
However, when I am given the choice between having a game look like trash and having a clean image, I will choose the better image.

I see no difference in the Assassins Creed pics. If they were side by side I could see minor details maybe, but playing one without the other next to it I would never see a difference. The other game looks a little sharper on the high end PC. Nothing huge though.

I played Rayman Legends. It does look beautiful. But if the game got bumped down to 720 I doubt I would see much of a difference.

I will admit, the Assassin's Creed one doesn't show it off that great, as I downsampled from 1080 and then upscaled back, which hides a lot of the jaggies. I'm too lazy to hook up my 360 to take a console screenshot right now.

Last thing I will say on this subject though, I will take 60 FPS at 720p over 1080p and 30 FPS.

That is somewhat true when comparing SD to HD. But 720 to 1080 is oh so minor. Hence why everyone is always arguing what resolution a game is running in. If it wasn't minor there would be no argument.
