Lets put things into perspective,Nintendo made the most money last gen,by far, they are selling the Wii u not a loss, but are making money on the units sold.Last gen MS and Sony sold their consoles at a loss for a long time, but that didn't stop them including cutting edge hardware(console) and extra features(blu ray DVD etc).Next gen MS and Sony will do the same, so they wil sacrifice profits to give the fans value for money, and you all bend over for Nintendo, pathetic.

Sony wont be doing that this time around they cant afford it. Unless they sell another building to offset the losses.

Are ppl gonna bend over again for their Red Rings or Yellow Lights?

Yes ever new MS system is coming with lube

HappY? Fools please. I got locked out of console gaming for a year and its still going on because of RROD and they want me to pay them again for their stupid mistakes when building and rushing out the 360. Happiness? LOL, as long as you bleed out money.

So every one bought into the gimmick of BR/DVD play back. I am glad nintendo doesnt waste my money on such frivolous stuff since i buy it to play games

I use my PS3 for everything. Its been very very successful for being my "media entertainment hub" Dvds, bluerays, BBCiPlayer, netflix it stores my favourite porns and ultimately plays games. I adore my PS3. I kinda expected Nintendo to do this but better since Nintendo was experts at making things simple and foolproof.

Unfortunately they didn't. I seriously thought the next step from the Wii was to make it "thee entertainment hub" rather than market it as a gaming machine which wont piss off parents because you can go in the next room and play it on your pad. WHAT?!

But Nintendo is a gaming company they don't worry about watching movies as far as movies go for them that is provided by Netflix.

Nintendo no longer makes a gaming systems. It's a media device. TV control functions. Streaming media and whatever else it does. It is NOT just a game console anymore. And they did miss the chance to be THE media replacement choice by excluding disc media playback.

Streaming media can be done on just about any device one has this days. TV's, computers, BR players, streaming boxes (of course), tablets, phones and mp3 players. But the thing about streaming is that not everything is available for streaming. You still need disc for a lot of Netflix movies. This might change more and more but for now, you still need a disc player. And you can't stream without an internet connection. Remember the Netflix outage on Christmas when the whole of the US was trying to watch a movie? They blamed Amazon Cloud service but still, you couldn't watch a thing, unless you had disc. :)

But either way, streaming nor disc based movie playback won't be a selling point for consoles from this point on. We know things will look great but what else can they offer? Some will still talk of graphics but I think the focus would be on making more efficient running hardware to handle the power that these new machines are supposed to be pushing without being able to grill a steak on them. What will they have other than a new controller method? Illumiroom type of stuff (which is pretty cool). Oculus Rift-ish headsets?

I'll be getting the new consoles and I will have some games to enjoy but I'm eager to see what Sony and MS are going to show us this year.

Last gen graphics

I, for one, hate super realistic graphics as seen in games like Crysis. There's nothing artistic about it and it almost gives me a headache. There's nothing wrong with 1080p; there's really no point in going any higher for me. I care about aesthetics and I love the look of games from the sixth generation more than those of this gen.

Digital content is tied to the console

This is a problem, but I don't usually buy things online anyway. Still, it would be a shame to lose all your data if some unfortunate event happened to your Wii U that you just couldn't control.

You have to pay to download Virtual Console games to your Wii U that you already bought for your Wii.

Not true. You have to pay for additional features. All your VC games are on the Wii emulator. So many websites that have been bashing the Wii U even agreed this makes sense.

Battery life on the tablet controller is laughably short.

Never experienced this. I was at a party where a friend brought his game pad but forgot to charge it or bring the charger and we were able to use it for a good six - seven hours before it died.

An update that takes up 5GB of memory is is required to go online, maybe even just to play games.

Doesn't affect me. I got the deluxe edition.

No DVD/Blu-Ray/Playback

Doesn't affect me. I have the PS3 and a 360.

Region-Locked

Doesn't affect me. I don't import.

If it doesn't affect you, I don't think you should complain. And if you do have a problem with something, find a way to fix it.

Wait wut? So a video game system that focuses on video games is no longer a gaming system? Wow.

So because they didn't bend over to to waiste time making a app with company x so that you can watch crappy show y even though you can more than likely watch it on the net?

This is sad when the company who didn't pad their system with non-gaming related stuff, it no longer making video game systems, meanwhile Sony and MS go into a pissing contest over online features, and MS goes out on their way to release a "game system" that used payed still in development PS3 tech and then when it does, because of how poorly its made crashes into RROD.

Lets talk about the real issues in gaming, the failing standards and console integrity and infrastructure. A PS2, Xbox, or gamecube has a much better chance of still working today while one of your current systems is more than likely to break in 5 years or less.

Instead of bashing on Nintendo for being idk Nintendo. While not focus on real issues. Not crying that it didn't get caught up in the recent console power race, that has one company in the red and killing all profit from its previous two systems and another whose system is a technological cancer patient.

Or how about the DRM defenders on PC? They clearly don't exist either.

This is awfully ironic coming from a guy with "Companion Cube!!! omg" in his signature. Steam's not DRM to you, boy?

One. Portal came out on more than just PC. Two, Steam isn't required to be online to play games, just to download them, just as every single digital distribution service in existence. OH NO! By your logic GoG, Xbox Live Arcade, and PSN are all DRM as well cuz I need to be online to purchase and download my games!

Edit: And no, you CAN'T use PCs in your argument because not all PCs have Blu-Ray or DVD playback. My desktop nor my laptop have Blu-Ray, my rig hooked up under my TV has no Blu-Ray/DVD/CD playback what-so-ever. Just USB and SD cards. Not to mention most people still have XP and that requires a paid for program with codecs to play DVDs as WMP won't do it normally. So you can't just buy a computer, pop in a DVD, and watch it. It's not NEARLY that simple.

I applaud you TC, you have successfully trolled the Wii U board with a 500 post thread.

After going through the OP, it was obvious what the intent of this thread was, but it seems that you had assistance in keeping this thread alive, so I suppose all the credit can't go to you.

But,, you should still feel special. You are now one of a few who can say they've trolled the Wii U board with a 500 post topic

We have no control over console integrity. None. That's a fault that lies with the manufacturers. It's also the reason I never bought a 360. By the time they corrected he RRoD problems I had given up on the system. And Nintendo did pad their system with non-gaming stuff.

I never said anything about anyone catching up to anyone else in terms of power. I don't care about that because I have no control over that. Once again, it's the manufacturers. I care about getting a console that is going to work well and allow me to play some games that I like. If it has extras that I like then I'll take advantage of them just like everyone else that may be interested in them. If I remember correctly, the Power of 7 was what was spouted all over this here Nintendo forum for the whole year before the Wii U launched. The Nintendo fans were suddenly obsessed with power over the "HD Twins". So talk about wanting more power with them. My only concern is that Monster Hunter Ultimate doesn't look like that dreaded Monster Hunter 4. Other than that, I don't care anything else about what the Wii U can or can't do.

My Phat PS3 got the YLoD last year and I had to reflow it to get my data off. Other than that I've had no other problems until that point.
