Funnily enough same could be said for Nintendo. Nothing has been done with Starfox for ages. F-Zero hasn't got anything at all. Mother never came out over here. And if you count old Nintendo Games like Excitebike and Ice Climbers they haven't seen much activity as well.
Granted, last week shows Nintendo are doing stuff with their IP's, like letting Atlus work with Fire Emblem, and letting a Yoshi Game be made that probably isn't going to have the difficulty of Yoshi's Island if Kirby's Epic Yarn is anything to go by (Could change though)
It's not quite the same for Nintendo. They revived Kid Icarus on 3DS. On Wii there was two new Excite games, a new Punch Out, the made a sequel to Sin & Punishment, new Wario Land, ect. I admit F-zero has been getting the shaft, but both Star Fox & Yoshi had DS games. And as far as I can tell Ice Climbers isn't really a series, just popular enough to get Smash appearances and rereleases in ports and VC. We must except Mother as is, is done barring a remake.
As a whole Nintendo hasn't had the resources to handle all of it's IPs. It's not that same as Sega's downfall since it went 3rd Party. That has to do with their own boneheaded moves, and over saturation of Sonic games. Konami on the other hand has been suffering some terrible internal mismanagement that has lead to some sort of down sizing. I don't think it had anything thing to do with the games not selling. More of them being real jerks to their employees turning over something resulting in their current affairs. Not like there aren't a bunch of people wanting 2D Castlevania, a remake of Mystic Ninja Staring Goemon for 3DS, a new Yu-Gi-Oh, or a new Bomberman like the N64 ones.
