a few times, i thought it looked really good, massive draw distances and good character models. Then i watched this and they are really comparable, even though one is on a last gen system and released in 2010( i think).

This might be a better comparison. It's a higher res vid too.

When she starts running on the grass it sounds like she has change in her pockets... must be well frosty,,,

Looks amazing, I hope 'X' can out do it in some way when it is released.

Personally, X looks better to me. FF13 has the pop ins for the monster. With X it didnt look so bad or I didn't notice at all. Also X seems to have massive draw distance but for usable land, FF13 has good draw distance but a lot of it is just backdrop

I have FF13 and you can't really compare. Most of FF13 is see not touch. Those things you see at a distance, you can't get any closer and most of the ingame cutscenes are pre-rendered or pre-recorded.
Also, FF13 has battle separate from the environment, so it should have more assets available seeing that it loads between the environment and actual combat.

I was more impressed with FF13-2, that had smaller environments, but it had more characters on screen, NPCs interacted with the environment, random encounters, ect. and it did way more ingame.

X looks a lot better, IMO. The linearity does hurt FFXIII quite a bit, IMO. As for that open explorable area... outside of a few small grass patches there's hardly any plantlife. There's some more normal life, but pretty much all they do is run around and all you can do is run around. X's scale is larger than FFXIII's field, there's much more to the landscape, controlling mechs and whatnot, combat in that same area (with both small & large enemies) and you can even go to the top of mountains and such.

While they look a bit similar on the surface, once you dive in you'll realize just how much more impressive X's graphics are. FFXIII is currently the JRPG with the best graphics out there (I suppose FFXIII-2 looks slightly better).
