Do you guys think Nintendo's pricing mechanisms are affecting sales of the Wii U?

Nah, I think you're getting more value in that compared to the basic set.

The only way the Deluxe set is overpriced, is if the Wii U is inherently overpriced (IMO, it isn't). for $50 more, you're getting 4x the internal memory and a $60 retail game.

Deluxe Digital Promotion is also nice. I've made $10 on it so far.

The price of the Deluxe is good.

The price of the Basic edition is problematic because it's too bad of a deal compared to the basic.
The Basic should EITHER be cheaper OR contain more stuff.

As it is now, people who want a white console have to live with getting an obviously horrible deal.
People who simply don't want the stuff in the Deluxe still shouldn't buy the Basic, because they could easily sell the physical Deluxe stuff (NL, stands, in Europe also the sensor bar) for over 50$ and still have the advantage of additional storage and the download bonus promotion.

I'm pretty sure the Basic could sell a lot better if it was 270$/ (so the price would be more clearly distanced from the 300) and also had the bonus promotion, OR if Nintendo Land was part of the Basic bundle.

They should have decided if they wanted the Basic to be attractive for the "core" (who might not want NL and would get a big HDD anyway, but might be attracted by the promotion) or the "casual/expanded" audience (who are unlikely to download big stuff so they don't need more storage and the promotion, but who would obviously want Nintendo Land).

As it stands, the Basic is not a reasonable choice for anyone who doesn't have money to burn for the sake of getting a white system.

This is a big advantage if you are going to be buying a lot digitally. I have gotten almost $70 back already. I like that you can use the codes on the 3DS as well.
