Neither of them are average. Im a bigger fan of Metroid though. They are both awesome

Metroid:
Zero Mission, Super Metroid, Fusion, Prime, Echoes, and Corruption are all better than Uncharted 2 which, in my opinion, is the best in the Uncharted series. Only Fusion is down on the level of Uncharted 2, but it is still great.

Superior shooting adventure game? Neither, as adventure is not in either games genre. They're completely different games, they're not comparable, the fact they you think they are makes me question your intelligence.

They're really not comparable. Uncharted is a very linear, cinematic shooter experience. Metroid is a non-linear, exploration based shooter with upgradable items and lots of branching paths. I like both of them, but it's a case of apples and oranges.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that they aren't comparable, but they don't really have enough in common for me to feel comfortable with rating one higher than the other.
