That was the point, showing how much it cost them at Launch.

Which shows why they were stupid in the first place. They got no return on investment for years and meanwhile ran the company into the ground. BR would have come down with or without them just like all tech

Blu-Ray costs almost nothing to implement in a system in 2013.

Read the post I quoted. It was referencing the cost of blu-ray and Cell at launch. (and trying to relate to the PS4) My post was simply to provide the actual costs at launch.

That quote you bolded was pulled from the link.

If anything, my link shows that blu-ray was only a small part of the PS3 launch cost.

The inclusion of Blu-Ray on the PS3 was one of the major deciding factors in Blu-Ray winning the format war against HD-DVD. From a broad business perspective it was a gold mine move by Sony.

I'm not endorsing or denouncing either Sony or Nintendo here because, frankly, I have no particular affinity for either as a company.

How was it a gold mine move for sony they dont own the actual technology and it helped put them in the financial state they are in now.
