Give it up waiting for a price drop.

If you are seriously expecting a price drop before the release of the Wii U's competition, then you are delusional. Nintendo cannot afford to look like a failure with a premature price drop again. While the 3ds's price drop drove sales, it suggested that the company was weak and prone to problems. At a time in which they are posting losses, any actions that would appear as weakness would be more detrimental to the company in the short term than lower sales. Instead, they need to wait until a time in which a price drop would look like better before they can afford it.

When to realistically expect a price drop:
If MS and Sony release at a similar price point to the Wii U, we may see a price drop around the launch of those consoles.
If MS and Sony release at a slightly higher price than the Wii U, expect to see either special holiday pricing or special bundles that are essentially temporary price drops. (Wii U deluxe + a controller + Mario U for 350)
If MS and Sony release at significantly higher prices, itll be holiday 2014 at the earliest.

Nintendo cannot afford to go through the issue of 2 mispriced consoles in a row. They may have the problem, but they'll have to disguise any action as something else.

No. Just no. Nintendo said that they aren't going to drop the prices bcause they are already selling the console for a loss.

Instead of a price drop, I think Nintendo should have better advertising for the Wii U. Not many "regular" people have heard of the Wii U, and those that have tend to think it's some really expensive accessory for the Wii, instead of an all-new, eighth-gen system.

When the price of manufacturing the console decreases, then Nintendo will start introducing a price cut.
