Wii U audio/video issue

I've heard that the Wii U doesn't allow video via hdmi and audio via component simultaneously. Can someone confirm that this is true. This is a problem for me because I use a projector.

I don't have a Wii U, so I can't answer your question.
But if it can't do what you've described, you may be able to use this.

That's after quick googling, you may be able to find something cheaper with more effort.

Why does Nintendo make is so hard for me to invest in their product. It seems like this could be fixed with a simple system update.
