So I think ive figured out why so many Nintendo fans hate Sony.

Sony has been falling flat for me since the PS2. I thought the PSP was best as an emulator with custom firmware, and the ps3 seems to be really proud of its library of "cinematic experience" games. It got to the point where I'd have a system update waiting for me every time I turned the thing on. And the Vita is...well I hope the Vita gets some more good games.

They've really gone downhill since the start of 7th generation. While I did get a PSP awhile back, the only other 7th generation systems I have are DS and Wii (the weakest ones). Had Sony not been utter *******s about the PS3 and kept full PS2 compatibility on their slim models, I might have bought that, but they didn't and the few PS3 games I had any interest in were controversial and not as well received (enough to justify the price of the system).

And unless the PS4 actually does let me play PS2 discs and has games that appeal to me, I see no reason to care about its alleged power over the Wii U.

Japan is very nationalist. They will only buy a game system from a Japanese company. MS tried really hard to sell 360 over there but the JPs wouldn't have it. When a new 360 game is released it sells about 5000 copies in Japan. For sure Nintendo or Sony will sell the most systems there.

PS1 and PS2 totally destroyed Nintendo.

PS3 destroyed Wii in terms of quality, hell the only reason Wii outsold PS3 because it was 2x cheaper than the PS3.

Better exclusives. Better games. That's why the Wii outsold the PS3.
The PS3 just has a larger quantity of good games. The Wii has very few good games, but the ones it does have, far outshine most similar games on the PS3.

Also, the PS1 was the worst of it's gen. Not a single game was remotely playable on that hunk of crap. Long load times, and awful controller, loud as hell when it was on.
Real gamers back then, owned Saturns. So they could rock it hardcore to some Panzer Dragoon, Shinobi X, and the sheer excellence *cue air guitar solo here* that is Guardian Heroes. Not to mention, superior versions of Megaman 8, and Megaman X4.

PS2 was good. But the Cube always got better versions of multiplatform games, and armed with that badass controller, the Cube was the way to go. Thing wasn't great for fighting games, but that's why I rigged up my PS2 fightstick to work with my Wii.

HA HA HA HA! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! lol so let me get this straight...better exclusives? Not imo, but better games? Hell no.Far outshine? Wow dude.

PS1 worst of its gen? Your bad at this dude. I've played Guardian Heroes and it is amazing, but it doesn't make the Saturn best of that gen. "Real gamers owned Saturn"? Are you serious?

GameCube > PS2? Wow gtfo man, opinions are opinions but your in denial I see. Sony has never very good according to you.

Besides the Sony fanboys that come here and make the rest of their fans look bad.

I have a feeling its because Sony is Nintendo's biggest competitor in Japan, and Japan is wide open right now. If Sony has its rumored specs and Japanese developers began to focus on it, let's be honest its gonna be in trouble.

I only say Sony because Xbox does not sale in Japan, which is f***** up, but true. I think its safe to say Nintendo and Sony fans are more into games from the east.

Opinions? I don't hate you guys btw, I come in peace.

You were doing good till the 2nd sentence. Nobody cares about Sonys rumored specs. Nobody except arrogant small brained people feel the Wii U cannot hold its own. Nintendo continues to expand their company while sony shrinks theirs, why would anyone feel Sony was a threat. Sony is like the company bringing the shiny new top of the line hand gun to a fight and everyone cheers. Meanwhile nintendo just drops a bomb on them because everyone was paying attention to the shiny gun. So since you come in peace now leave in pieces.

Developers care about specs, no? I care about specs. Nintendo fans cared about specs the Wii U was unveiled to be a bit underpowered. If developers focus on the system with superior specs, the system with the inferior specs is going to suffer. Why do people act like they didn't see this happen even last generation. Yes the Wii sold great, good for NINTENDO, not good for me, a fan who bought their system only to have just about every big developer abandon it.

BTW, Sony has went on the record saying graphics/power is not whats going to win this generation(PS4,720). So no they are not what your s***** analogy implies. Nintendo drops a bomb? Wtf. What is the bomb? The Wii U? Lol.

Much better games. I would take TvC and a competent port of Guilty Gear over that trash that is BlazBlue, Tekken 6, SFXT, or MvC3 (UMvC3 was good, though).

And real gamers play racing games, shmups, platformers, and fighting games. Since the Saturn had the best ports of X-Men vs. Street Fighter, CotA, SFII, SFAlpha, and MvC1, on top of Virtua Fighter, and the best port of MK3, it was the console real gamers had. Anyone who owned a PS1 probably wanted it for Final Fantasy, or later in it's life, Chrono Cross. And JRPGs aren't games at all. They're movies. I'd like to say they're interactive novels, but they're not interactive in the slightest. You have no interaction with anything, everything is predetermined.

Real gamers play games that challenge them, to live for competition and to strive for excellence, that is what it means to be a real gamer. One cannot be challenged by an RPG, unless they have no idea how to manage items and magic.

Did I ever say the PS2 wasn't any good?
No, the PS2 had phenomenal games.
It had the Sly Cooper series, Ratchet and Clank, Okami, God Hand, Shadow of the Colossus (a game I can't stand, but it's still really good), and a ton of other great games.

The gamecube had Custom Robo, SSBM, the second greatest fighting game of all time, Viewtiful Joe running at 60 fps, Sonic Adventure 2, and whole slew more. Both were good consoles, but the Gamecube was just better. It had the best versions of multiplatform games (if a game is great on the PS2, but then plays just as well, and looks better on another console, that's a pretty sweet plus. All the PoP games, BGaE, DBZ Budokai, etc), and in some cases, games like RE4, and Viewtiful Joe actually RAN better (VJ on the GCN was a solid 60 fps, while the PS2 version was 30 fps), hell SC II was best on the cube as well, ran smoother, and the textures looked much better.

I actually have never even owned a Gamecube. I have a crapton of GCN games, but I never played them until after the Wii came out.

i think the problem is that many of the current "big name" developers are going to shift to the graphically more powerful systems wanting to "streamline the experience" across all consoles, which honestly means; "not have to program a whole other game"

thats my worry. im enjoying my wiiU and i know that im going to be looking forward to many many games coming out on it. but with third party companies already avoiding the wiiU with big name games (and lets be honest those multi-console games showing up on the wiiU are skylanders, as well as other games that have been out for a while) its leaving me a bit nervous for when the new xbox and playstation show up. then they will have a greater reason to hold back. and maybe thats why they arent making them now. maybe instead they are just choosing to not make much (if anything) for the wiiU because they know when the other "next gen" systems show up that they wont want to put any more focus on the wiiU

cant decide which movie is the worst movie; dragon ball z evolution, m.nights last air bender, or twilight????? hmmm

There were two consoles around the same strength.
That's why it happened.

You see developers spend a lot of money making games these days. It's much easier to port games between two similar consoles, than it is to port one from a high-end console, to one with lesser specs.

Porting a lot of third party games would have been impossible, or next to.
I think I read somewhere about Ubisoft trying to get AC1 to work on the Wii, but couldn't due to hardware limitations. It was a while ago, so don't actually quote me on that.

It would have cost more money than it was worth, really. I mean, do you think Fallout 3 would have sold well on the Wii?
Least they could have done was port Morrowind though (without wiimote support, that would be terrible).

Speaking of expenses, I'll turn my attention to RDR, which I'm fairly certain is still the most expensive game ever produced.
RDR cost 22 mil, didn't it? And it didn't even break even, despite being on two consoles.
If R* does that again, they might not be able to return from it.
Now imagine if they ported it to the Wii, forget the hardware limitations, let's say that the size of the game isn't a factor.

You'd have to downgrade the visuals, either reduce the online to just death match, or remove it all together, change the controls to reflect the console, and you probably wouldn't be able to enter buildings, and they'd exist purely for cutscenes.

Now, with three consoles similar in power, that's a thing of the past.
And the PS4 and the next Microbox will be similar in power. Not that they couldn't be more powerful than the U, just that, in one's case, it would be suicide, and Microsoft probably wants to spend little and make tons.

I've played all those fighters you mentioned. No way in hell TvC is worth losing all of those. No way in hell. It's a good game but not the best by far.

Real gamers can play any genre of game, and JRPG is a real genre of video games. I don't even see how you can call yourself a gamer and claim:

1.Saturn was the console "real" gamers had, you sound like an idiot.

2.RPG aren't games at all, and everything is pre determined? its obvious you have never played an RPG in your life, and possibly a PS1. SINCE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW AN RPG WORKS ON A BASIC LEVEL, I'm done with you. That is probably the most stupid thing I have ever heard on gamefaqs. Wow. I'm not even gonna try and dispute your GameCube logic.

I don't have Sony. I consider myself a Sony fan myself but I just dislike the negative nancy Sony fanboys who invade this board.

I bought a PS1, it broke on day 1. Got a PS2, one of the best console's to exist. PS3, price killed me. I am open to the PS4. Its all about game library and pricing.

N64 work well into the PS2 era until it was stolen. Used Gamecube for mostly Nintendo own IPS like Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion(loved that game), and Melee with the occasion derivative but the PS2 dominated my attention. Skipped Wii and focused on Nintendo handhelds inwhich I bought the entire Gameboy Advance line and then bought the original DS and then kept on gaming on it since. May get WiiU based on this year's WiiU.

Got a Xbox. I only played Ultimate Spider and some really enjoyable Tennis game. Got a 360, surprised it had a lot of games that I like, from JRPG's and WRGP's, platformers, fighters and so on. The experience was killed by RROD that has kept me out of console gaming for a year because I just don't have the money to get it fixed or replaced. Gonna wait sometime before buying their next console. I really got burned by RROD and they are all asking for more $$$ when its caused by their crappy their console was built.
