The wonderful people at chipworks have stripped off the top layer and taken incredibly high resolution pictures of the Wii U's GPU die. This is very exciting news because these pictures can be analyzed and we can finally figure out what makes the Wii U tick.

For the people that haven't been following the NeoGAF thread, the forum members had raised $200 to buy the pictures. The Chipworks people seemed to like that they wanted the pictures for pure curiosity's sake and posted the pictures on their website for free. Huge props to those guys.

got this from the last comment

the raw power of the GPU may be at the same level of the Xbox 360 (maybe lower, or maybe a bit higher).

And you conveniently left out the rest of it that explains why that comparison is pointless. This chip seems to be a custom chip to the core, and seems to be nothing like the R700 people thought it was.

Anyway, we need to just wait until the full breakdown of the chip is complete, which will probably take several hours to a few days.

I'm pretty happy with chip works they seem really awesome. Btw if anyone wants to talk about real gamers, how about we say "people who pay a microchip scanning place so they can know more about their hardware"

How should that matter to me when the games dont look or run much better than 360 games?

Because a handful of launch games are proof that no game will ever look better than a 360 game.
