is the next 3D Mario game going to be Galaxy 3 or something else?

There is a small, small chance of it being Galaxy 3, but evidence suggests that Nintendo wants to keep a seperate 3D Mario series on each console, with Galaxy 2 only existing because it was still on the Wii.

Plus, they've announced that there will be "a new 3D Mario" without saying what it is, suggesting it's not an existing title.

There's a ZERO percent chance that it will be. Nintendo has come out and f******* said this already. If you people don't know anything just PM me and I'll give you the answer before you make yourself look bad.

I don't want to see a Galaxy 3 unless they make it less about little planets and more about exploration. Taking the exploration out of 3D Mario was the only terrible thing about the Galaxy series.

Nintendo told many years ago that 3D Marios are more linear and in smaller worlds because Japanese players get lost in huge 3D worlds, like Mario 64 or Sunshine, so if they want sales with the new 3D Mario, is gonna be maybe not Galaxy themed, all gravity and stuff, but not like Mario 64 also...

Maybe like 3D Mario Land...

How about they bring the Super Mario Brothers into a co-op 3D game finally?

We always hear talk of this Mushroom Kingdom but have never gotten an open world game to explore it, just bits and pieces. I don't mean a hub world and levels, something where we can see the destruction that bowser leaves behind and follow him across the kingdom.

Just throwing stuff out there

Probably something else. Nintendo seems to like to make 3D Mario different on each platform; Sunshine was different from 64, Galaxy was different from Sunshine, and 3D Land is different from Galaxy.

Galaxy 2 was an anomaly; basically, Nintendo has said that the reason they made Galaxy 2 was because they had a ton of level ideas that never made it into Galaxy 1, and they wanted to release them. Now that Nintendo is starting to do DLC, they can probably just make level packs and sell them separately if they want to do something like that in the future, rather than make a whole new game.

It'll obviously be Super Mario U-niverse

I'm wouldn't even be confident in getting Galaxy 3, what's to stop nintendo HD-upping Galaxy 1 and 2 and releasing a Super Mario Galaxy Trilogy like the Metroid Prime series? I'll buy SMGT though.

Problem is, where does Mario go next? Super Mario Universe?
