Sorry, I made this topic when my ass was sore.

It was a poor decision.

I can't believe I have to waste my signature to tell people New Super Mario Bros. could be a lot better.

How is quality not subjective? I think my Mom makes the best spaghetti in the world, someone might disagree and think it isn't good. Quality is entirely subjective. I don't understand your reasoning. If I like something then I think it's high quality and worth my time. That differs from person to person.

Nintendo blew it with Other M.

It's done. Never revisit this series.

Nintendo didn't make Other M, Team Ninja (a studio within Tecmo) made it. Team Ninja failed, not Nintendo.

First of all, it was a collaboration. Team Ninja and Nintendo were both working on it, not just Team Ninja alone.

Second, you can't blame Team Ninja for Other M. Almost every single thing people didn't like was Yoshio Sakamoto's idea. (The guy who co-created the Metroid series.) Team Ninja's ideas were actually better, but Sakamoto kept shooting them down and saying they had to do it his way.

Read this, it goes into a lot of detail about Other M's development, and explains exactly how the game came to be what it was, and is actually a very entertaining read:
Part 1: http://lparchive.org/Metroid-Other-M/Interview%201/
Part 2: http://lparchive.org/Metroid-Other-M/Interview%202/
Part 3: http://lparchive.org/Metroid-Other-M/Interview%203/

And also:

http://kotaku.com/5491158/metroid-other-m-might-have-been-on+rails-if-not-for-team-ninja

The control scheme, the lack of exploration and interaction, the plot, Samus's new personality, that was all Sakamoto.
Team Ninja is definitely not to blame. They tried to save the game. And you can't blame Nintendo either; apparently Nintendo wasn't too keen on Sakamoto's ideas.

Don't blame Team Ninja.
Don't blame Nintendo.
Blame Sakamoto.

Metroid series is my favorite ever, and Other M is my 2nd favorite game in the series.

I would buy a new Metroid in a heartbeat.

I enjoyed Other M. Then again, I've been gaming for 22 years, so I tend not to get so riled up about a game being different than its predisestors. It had moments that annoyed me, but every single game does. I'm not as concered with what's considered good or cool as I am with how much fun I have with it. I had fun with OM, so it's fine with me.

Other M is not a crap game. I loved it a lot more than the Prime series because I hate 1st person shooters.

Prime isn't a shooter.
It's a first-person action/adventure.

That's like saying that Megaman is a shmup.

Which it very clearly is a "Jump and Shoot".

Sensationalist bullcrap. Other M was better than Prime 2 or 3 for my money. I found the platforming, exploration and puzzles much more satisfying than that boring scanning and less than satisfying fps platforming...

To take things to extremes, taste is a subjective thing that falls to things like whether your mom goes a sweeter or more zesty route with her sauce. "Objective" qualities (admittedly this is still more on a scale than actual objectivity) speaks more for qualities that can be closer to fully agreed upon by a panel of peers, like whether or not arsenic was a good ingredient choice.
