You have to keep in mind that Monolith Soft doesn't own the rights to either Xenogears or Xenosaga.

Even if it's not a sequel or prequel to Xenoblade it would still have the same gameplay (or framework) so it would at the very least be a spiritual successor to Xenoblade.

In case you are wondering why everyone is so sure it's related to Xenoblade;
- It clearly showed the same battle system (including a chain attack icon from Xenoblade)
- The X is like a mix of the X from Xenogears and the X from Xenoblade.
- The character at the end of the trailer looks almost identical to Shulk (the MC from Xenoblade)

It also will feature some form of online multiplayer. Even though I think it's safe to assume the game will still feature a solid single player experience there's always a chance that this won't be the case.

I thought we all agreed, card-based battle systems are as awful, if not more so, than typical menu-based battle systems.
