Oh cool. I can get it on my PS3 now for trophies. Kinda sucks, guess my Wii U will be less used than my 360 this spring and summer.

One site says it is delayed to September?!? That's not cool- especially if it is purely to make it playable on the other consoles.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 versions of Rayman Legends are being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the same team behind the Nintendo Wii U game. Rayman Legends has been praised for its stunning visuals and innovative gameplay by media around the world and labeled as one of the most anticipated platformers of 2013.

“We heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system. We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game.”

Sweet! I was worried I wouldn't be able to play this game (anytime soon), but it looks like I'll be able to get it for PS3 afterall!

Who expected it to stay exclusive?

It's not like Bayonetta 2 where Nintendo is publishing and funding that game. It's Ubisoft's game.

Technically, this can work no problem for this game, all you need is a touch screen user which Microsoft can offer via tablet and smart glass and Sony can offer via Vita. Also the secondary screen controls are optional, not mandatory.

What I don't understand is why they made it such a big issue to begin with that it was an exclusive game. If you wanted it to be multiplatform, then just freaking announce it as such and not flipflop.

They probably hoped to grab Wii U sales first and then launch on other platforms later, but changed their plans. It's likely that they expected the Wii U to be selling in higher numbers and that they didn't expect NSMBU to get the great reviews that it did get. Faced with very significant competition on a platform selling lower-than-expected numbers, it makes more sense to be multi-platform at launch.
