This is basically the fault in Ubisoft's logic in a nutshell.

What a huge fault in logic. Due to Microsoft's policy on releasing games multi plat it was either release the game on wii u original date and only be able to sell on ps3 in 7 months. Or wait months and be able to sell to all 3...hmm 2 million customers now + 70 million, or 140 mil+ in 7 months. Man that is a toughie.

Well, he's being sarcastic and he sounds like he is. Funny vid though, but he makes a good point. Ubisoft clearly isn't delaying other multiplatform titles to bring it to Wii U.

Well they would need to come together collectively and all agree on such an action. Which would never happen.

Except larger userbase =/= more sales

Getting the most sales is all about strategically releasing them.

And you're also completely wrong about the 140 million. There's also many multi-console owners. It's roughly 120 million for the other consoles. Anyway, there's also some other factors to consider. The other consoles have a much larger game selection. Rayman Legends clearly won't be the kind of title that sells well on those consoles at full price (as proven by Origins), so people will skip it in favor of all of the other competition. Then once it gets cheaper, it will be competing with hundreds of other games that are that cheap (and often good as well).

On the Wii U, there's hardly any competition. Releasing a good game on a console that hasn't a lot of games yet has a lot of strategic advantages, especially when gamers on that console are starving for a new game.

Really, on the other consoles, only the few highest selling titles get more than 3 million sales. Most hyped AAA releases don't even manage to sell 3 million. And the majority of good games doesn't even sell a million. Hell, Rayman Origins only sold about 2 million in total (everything combined).

Basically, if they released it on the Wii U this month, then Rayman Legends most likely would've sold about 200-300k worldwide at launch. By the end of the year it should be at at least 500k (probably before the holiday season even starts). I doubt Wii U sales would have any effect on the PS3 & 360 sales this way. But now, it probably won't even break 100k on the Wii U since it'll be released in a time period when there's plenty of other things coming out.

If enough major companies took a stand, Microsoft would have to cave. Quite frankly, the entire game industry needs to take a stand against used games as a whole (demand money from the sale of used games at retailers basically). But yeah, this will most likely never happen.
