Ubisoft handling this PR quite good, send a developer out so they act like they want to release it while it covers the loss sales by saying "Hey, the actual developer isn't bad he's trying to help we should still support this game!"

This appears to be the angle.

Regardless of how sincere there will always be the lingering doubt that this is more or less a spin story to save sales they might lose.

Regardless of the delay (the Microsoft contract which would mean they don't know how to properly run a business. Why give a release date for the Wii U ahead of time if they already had the contract? Are they that inept?) or because they need more time to work on it (again , why give such an early release date? Can they not meet deadlines? Are the developers really having problems programming?) Ubisoft has made a poor decision.

No matter how they cut it at this point, even by just releasing the Wii U version, Ubisoft will potentially (as stranger things have happened in the world of business) lose out.

Even if it was deliberately done by Ubisoft, what benefit comes from it? Buying the game doesn't pay the developers, they already got paid...

Developers say "C'mon Ubisoft, release now!" People who are angry agree.
If Ubisoft told the developers to protest, what benefit does Ubi get by having the devs say they are unfair?

While I admire giving Ubisoft grief, this will not allow a Wii U release earlier than the multiplatform release. The only reason why the Wii U version was delayed was because Microsoft reserves the right not to release a third party game if it has already been released first on another system.

They're not doing anything about Ninja Gaiden Sigma 3 or whatever that other game was.

Reportedly, the "real" reason is because this way Ubisoft only has to advertise the game once on all 3 platforms, which they think will save a little bit of money.

I don't get why they want to release all versions at once. I mean, Assassin's Creed 3 didn't get delayed to launch with the Wii U version (different scenario I know, but still).

Yep, it is clearly something in support of the Wii U so it has to be staged. We can't expect anyone to earnestly support Nintendo now can we...

I will still buy this. Origins was damn good and the demo was fun.
