Can someone explain to me what the WiiU is for?

o it looks like a portable console but its
not. I saw that it gets plugged with the Wii,
but one the other hand it gets its own
games.. So what exactly is the WiiU? I think
I want to get it cause of MH3U and FEXSMT,
but I guess ill need a lot of money
considering ill be needing Wii too.. Anyway,
some info plz cause im really confused with
this console

it is Nintendo's new home console.
it is not a portable (though it does have remote play features).
it DOES NOT plug into a Wii.

Wii U is a completely new console, seperate from the Wii. Wii U is 100% backwards compatible with Wii software, but not Gamecube. While the main console looks similar to the Wii, it isn't, the controller has a touchscreen built in, and several games allow you to play them on the controller instead of the tv. Nintendo also created a secondary controller, which is similar to the Xbox360 controller.

You do not need a Wii to play Wii U in any way shape or form. If you have more questions, ask.
