Donkey Kong 64-inspired platformer possibly coming to Wii U

A 3D indie platformer, titled A Hat in Time, may be headed to the Wii U eShop.
The game is already set for release on Windows and Mac; but, in an interview, developer Jonas Kærlev said:

Without making any promises, I think it will be likely that the game ends up on Wii U. I have been in touch with a publisher that is interested in putting it on that console, and I’d be more than interested in seeing that happen!

Taking pages from games like Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Kazooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day, A Hat in Time stars the Hat Kid, a young girl who fights baddies and solves mysteries. Oh, and she travels through time too.

As if that wasn’t enough, the game features a cel-shaded art style not unlike that in The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker.

A Hat in Time is developed by Mecha the Slag, which promises at least 5 hours of gameplay in five unique worlds. Full release is set for the fourth quarter of this year.

What are your first impressions from this new 3D platformer? Would you like to see it on the Wii U eShop?

Five hours for a game inspired by old school collect a thons? I know speed runs for such games exist, but that is nowhere near enough time.

5 hours of gameplay? Better be REALLY cheap if it does.

Well it is just a downloadable indie game. That being said it looks great. I'd be fine paying 10-15 dollars for this game anyway, given most retail games last gen were only 7 hours max.

Be amazing at that price. Might take years to get that low.

The writing was on the wall with Bioware the minute you could completely void all of your decisions with one choice in KOTOR.

Couple of things:
-The video didn't really showcase much. She ran back and forth, stubbed her foot a couple times, and jumped into the water. Looks like she controls like Mario in Mario 64, but it wasn't shown to good use.
-Too much white. I hope this isn't the finished product or there are other areas that look better.

Still looks charming and I might pick it up if the price is right. It's definitely no Banjo-Kazooie/Donkey Kong 64 spiritual successor though, from what I saw.

It's not that misleading unless you just skim for keywords. It does say DK64-inspired.
