So did all the devs do it wrong? Criterion seems to be on to something (not NFS)

considering that the 360 uses pretty much only PC parts (their CPU is based off the Power PC for christ sakes), I don't think so.

I think Criterion just made the first competent port.

The Wii U CPU is also Power PC based. Heck, even the Cell was Power PC based.

You're right, but the cell had 8 asymmetrical cores while the Wii U and 360's are symmetrical like in windows based PCs.

They did say that it was the best looking version of the game. That would imply it outdoes the PC as well.

No he's saying it's the best looking console version.

If Platinum was HAND drawn, she'd be on paper, fool. This is a video game. They just made her on screen, no "drawing" involved -Delano7 on BlazBlue

All they did was use the pc assets. Higher texture resolution.

Which couldn't be done on the 360 or PS3, why?

Oh, yeah - because the Wii U is far and away more powerful.

Gaming is like a pair of boobs - Sony and Microsoft fight over whos boobs look more realistic, while Nintendo is about having fun with them - Walkiethrougie

It was actually because Wii U has more memory.

They did, however, improve the lighting and effects for nighttime racing, even beyond where they're at for the PC version. That may have more to do with power.

no it isnt "far and away more powerful".

it has more memory, that doesnt equal far and away more powerful. they made minor tweaks in the look of it, and were able to improve something because they already made the game, they just got extra time to go and make it look a little better.

all for nothing since it still wont sell all that well, but I guess EA wasnt as "butthurt" over that whole origins thing as so many nintendo fanboys cried out earlier.

In any case, I'd like to bring up something I mentioned in another post - how do you seriously make a game that looks that much better than this? These graphics are already almost photorealistic, there's a ton of stuff going on at all times, there's lots of fancy effects, and the framerate is seemingly really stable.

If Wii U can run this, where are the concerns that it is "too weak" coming from?

mainly because its just a racing game, and they are the most graphically demanding games. the damage is poor, the buildings and scenery doesnt look all that great "graphic wise yes, realistically no). The game can be pushed to look much better on pc, but thats not what they were going for.

They may have "flipped a switch" to get PC textures running on it, but the improved frame rate and better lighting cannot be done via a switch

Uh, racing games are often some of the flashiest games. And the environments in this game are pretty amazing. Car damage also seems pretty good too.

And if you don't think this is tops, there's also Project Cars, which will also be on Wii U (and 360 and PS3, for that matter) and looks even better.
