This launch is almost as bad as the N64 launch.

Sony's last 2 launches were terrible. PS3 didn't pick up until 2008. The Vita didn't pick up, for me at least, until they added PS+. Even then many still complain there arn't enough games that interest them.

Most launches are bad. How do people not get this?

This. Sony misjudged demand for the console so many stores ran out. One of the components in the console was a little hard to obtain at the time so it took them longer to manufacture more. Prices for the system skyrocketed.

Super Mario 64 was great for its time because it survived off spectacle, other than that it wasn't very well designed. It's not very good by today's standards.

Actually that can be said about most of the N64. It was testing grounds for 3D games, but almost all of them became outdated when the Gamecube and Wii came. And in Aging, SNES games aged way better than N64 games.
