Nintendo should re-launch the Wii U without the tablet.

They'd no longer be selling it at a loss, and it would be a lot cheaper. Right now the tablet is 100% worthless for anything not named Nintendo Land or ZombiU, which are both very mediocre games anyway. Developers are by and large completely uninterested in utilizing its features, and I don't see that ever changing. It was the same way with the DS touchscreen and Wii Remote.

Make the Pro Controller the new standard input device. Market it as a semi-budget priced, family-friendly alternative to the PS4 and Xbox 3 with Wii backwards compatibility, and they could find a very solid and stable next-gen niche.

Off screen play is a big feature for Wii U though.

Nope, I think they made a fine product and should stick with it.
I loved the interface and added immersion in Zombie U,
having all the hud features and options off the main screen is a great asset.
I also like the off-screen play capability.
I'd be the 1st one to attack a pointless product, I never liked any of the motion control
stuff on any of the platforms, but I see the tablet as a great asset.
Besides, when you get down to it, it's not a re-launch or re-packaging that matters,
it's the games, and they will come.

I'm pretty sure I bought my HDTV so I could actually use it, not so I could stare at a tablet while sitting in front of it.

It's a woefully underutilized feature anyway.

I like the option of off screen play. I usually do a level or two of Mario in my bed before going to sleep. Quite relaxing.

How is something that forces you to look away from the TV "added immersion?"

Lol

Reminds me of when people wanted Nintendo to release a "2DS" before the 3DS's price drop.

It's obvious why that was a stupid suggestion, though, because the system's 3D tech is dirt cheap. A "2DS" would have cost almost the same.

That's not the case with the tablet. It's damn expensive. It's a parasite on the system.
