Crytek: It's "impossible" for next-gen consoles to match powerful PCs

This picture is literally everything you need to know about PCs versus consoles...

great obvious statement but console gaming will always reign due to its simplicity, price and the fact that most of their friends will own a console. Most people don't have super fast 100mbps internet and don't want to download drivers and patches just to play a game. PC is obviously better but is a hassle for the people who just want to play games.

also, finding the best chair for you takes too long.

What idiot thinks consoles are more powerful then PC? Only the most desperate of fanboys would argue that.

people who have access to the internet and are not blind

And what basis do you have for this?

He has none. He's a desperate pony, wasn't it obvious by his sig?

the basis that i am a sony fanboy not a pc or nintendo fanboy, so i am able to acknowledge the reality of the power the ps3 had at launch, and the power the ps4 will have at launch.

When ps3 launched it was banned from export because the processor was so powerful. Tell me again about how powerful you gaming pc is.

Oh, so clearly there are many reputable gaming sources and quotations you can make as to pinpoint how powerful the PS4 will be. Also, can you show me an interview or news article or something about how the 'Ps3 was banned for being too powerful'?

I like how you went through and disproved each of his points. It shows you really put a lot of thought and research into your argument.

Eh, why not?

.consoles are more popular because :
focus is on physical, rather than digital copies of games that are tied to an account

You can play whatever you want whenever with no hunting for discs. Games load much faster off a hard drive than they do a disc. There's no physical media to be lost or damaged removing your access to a given title.

You can get boxed copies if you really want but they generally wind up being tied to an account anyways so at most you save yourself a bit of downloading.

library includes many japanese games and real exclusives not bus driver simulator

You also have full access to a library of games going back more than twenty years.

controller over keyboard (often seen as a selling point for pc that you can play with these devices)

And why not? You can use a mouse + keyboard or you can use a controller. Choice is good, no?

negligible difference in gfx for a much higher price

For the second part let me offer two points-

#1: Games are generally cheaper on pc, in the case of digital sales *much cheaper*. If you buy a lot of games the price difference will quickly start to close purely because of that (and even if you don't there's a ton of free to play stuff out there).

#2: You're probably going to want a pc anyways. A gaming pc does everything a regular pc does in addition to gaming. Ie the more apt comparison would probably be "cost of a console and a cheap pc" versus spending a bit more and just getting a good gaming pc.

So in other words, they tried to get the PS4/Nextbox to be powerhouses, the companies denied...so Crytek blew the whistle. People are expecting crazy next-gen graphics and are going to be surprised that we've already been seeing them this whole time. There will be no huge leap. The Wii U is perfectly in the race.

Sucks to be a hater of the Wii U right about now :)

They are but they're also more expensive, particularly when Sony's selling their hardware at a massive loss.

Mind you that particular market has mostly gone over to gpgpu computing these days.

"Though a single 3.2 GHz cell processor can deliver over 200 GFLOPS, whereas the Sony PS3 configuration delivers approximately 150 GFLOPS, the approximately tenfold cost difference per GFLOP makes the Sony PS3 the only viable technology for HPC applications."

It says it in italics.

It says that it's less expensive, but it's clearly not as good. Nice job proving the point that you're wrong.
