Transferring VC Titles and Saves

So after figuring out how to do this, I finally was able to transfer and download all of my VC purchases. Was a bit of a process, especially since I had a ton of VC games and i had to redownload all of the games that were on the sd card.

So when I moved some of the channels around because they were kinda scattered randomly, and when I tried to boot up Dracula X Rondo of Blood, I got an error. It said something like Data Management Error or something like that. So it gave me the option to let the wii manage the data and it moved some of the channels around on its on. It booted up fine after it did that. Anyone know what happened or why it did that?

Also I keep hearing that saves from games like smash bros brawl do not transfer due to it being an online game? I haven't checked that one but is there any truth to that?

On a side note, when I booted it up, it took me right to where I left off which was amazing. I was worried the saves themselves wouldn't transfer.

The official Wii -> Wii U transfer process can move all game saves, even those with online components. The normal method of using data-management alone cannot do this.

As for the error / fix thing, no idea. But if it works and it fixed it automatically, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I don't think that was even the question.

Can you recall if you moved that specific game channel before booting?

Have you tried rearranging channels again?

If you get the same error...then maybe the channel location is also stored for some reason.

Once I transferred them I moved the channels areound since it just kind scattered them in random places. Then I tried booting Dracula X and it gave me that error. It said something about data management and asked if i want the wii to handle the data management. i clicked yes and it rearranged the channels but they worked.

If you attempt to launch a game from the SD Card menu, it attempts to copy the game to the Wii system memory in order to start it (games cannot be run directly from the SD Card). If there's not enough space in the memory to copy the game into it, you get a prompt, which will allow you to have the system itself free up enough space with some choices as to what to move to the SD Card.

Make sure you keep enough open space in your Wii memory that the largest game on your SD card would be able to fit. It's kind of silly that they kept this constraint intact considering the Wii U has considerably more internal memory than the Wii did.

TC, it seems my first post was unclear to you...I was asking you to try to recreate the scenario.

Try moving the channels around again...especially the Castlevania channel and then try launching the game from its new position. See what happens.
