So will Nintendo have a 2-3 year lead over Sony again?

Additionally, if people couldn't lay out $500 for a console pre-2008, there's no chance now.

Dude, I'm in so much better financial shape than I was pre-2008. I graduated from college in 2009 so I actually have money now. You can't say that just because the economy isn't what it was/looked like it was pre-2008 everyone is doing worse.

I'm expecting the PS4 to be between $399 and $449. Anything higher is overkill and will slow sales like the PS3's early years I believe.

As the rumor was about the specs, turned out to be true... Also included in the rumor was the price.. $400.

I was impressed by the PS4, I really was. But all that technology has a hefty price, and from the rumors going around, the PS4 won't me much cheaper, if at all than the original PS3.

Last gen, that pretty much gave Microsoft and Nintendo a 2 year jump start on Sony, because no one had $500 to slap down for a video game console. Finally when Sony revised the console did sales pick up.

We don't know anything about Microsoft yet, so I can't say anything regarding them, but do you think the PS4's hefty price tag will give them another 2 year lag?

Oh yeah also: Great, a touchpad on the controller, another Sony innovation that will fail to succeed in the market.

I must have missed the part of the conference when Sony announced their price of PS4.

The fact that Nintendo fans are clinging to this hope and that the demos today were somehow hocus pocus magic tricks speaks volumes.

You'd have to be delusional to think that the PS4 will be any less than $400, an optimist to think it would be any less than $500, and nervously hopeful for any less than $600.

As a staunch Nintendo supporter through out my life and believer in Nintendo, I think Sony Playstation 4 will retail for $1,800.. Those graphics looked like high end PC games! There is no way those graphics were real time. I don't believe any of it. They are lying. I am not letting Sony trick me two generations in a row.

I will wait for a price drop.

Just remember, trying to troll Nintendo fanboys isn't going to make your console sell any less slow.

Wii destroyed the technologically superior PS3 for the first few years and outsold it 3:2. The 3DS continues to destroy the technologically superior Vita. The best you can hope for is that five or so years from now the PS4 might have come close.

No I don't plan to buy a Wii U.

The WiiU is the slowest selling console in 8 years. It won't take much for the PS4 to overtake it.

Wii U has sold more than Vita. Thus Vita is the slowest selling console in 8 years.

NEWSFLASH: Vita isn't a console. It's a handheld.

It's true that portables are different, but the Wii U is selling pretty close to PS3 and the 360 if you align the launches. PS2 outsold the 360 for a while when it was first released.

The problem is that Wii U should be OUTSELLING the PS3 and 360 right now. It's the hot new machine and billed as the first console of the 8th Gen. You shouldn't be comparing how the Wii U is selling right now in 2013 compared to when the PS3 sold when it debuted in 2006. The industry and audience is even larger now than it was 7 years ago. I have feeling when we look at February numbers the PS3 is probably going to be outselling the Wii U.

That's just you. It is a fact that the economy is in much worse shape now than it was pre-2008.

Like you said, if the system is over the price range that you gave, it won't do well. I really hope Sony prices it between there but I'm not holding my breath.

The Wii U is selling about the same as the DS when it first came out! The DS is now the best selling console of ALL TIME!

Comparing apples to oranges. Consoles to portables. Nintendo only has one half-hearted competitor to worry about in the portable world. They've got a monopoly going on in portables. Nothing new.

Trolls like to cherry pick numbers. The Wii U is still tracking ahead of the 360s and PS3's first three month totals. FACT. Both U.S. and worldwide.

Yes, things are slow at the moment and Nintendo needs to pick up the pace.

But any real determination on how doomed anything is or isn't is at least a year away.

Depends on whether they can bounce back between now and November. It also depends on the PS4's price and launch titles.

The PS2 outsold the 360 and PS3 for awhile. The GBA outsold the DS for awhile. The DS (and PSP in Japan) outsold the 3DS for awhile. Only early adopters rush out to buy any new systems. Everyone else hold out until more games entice them. So I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Now what? Kind of sad that you're sad that's sad sadd

But really, I never hear people bringing up the DS or GameBoy in discussions of what the "Greatest Video Game Consoles of All Time" are...especially during this gen when people always talk of Wii vs. 360 vs. PS3...you don't hear people chiming in all "No guys, DS is the best console this gen!" Fanboys don't look at sales numbers and be all "Wii is in second place to the DS this generation."

EDIT: Plus, we got dude saying "Vita is the slowest selling console in 8 years"...well if handhelds are to be in the same boat as consoles then why are people so concerned with how badly the Vita is apparently selling?! I don't own a Vita and don't want to, but did people make this big of a gripe about other handhelds not selling well like the NeoGeo X, Sega Nomad, Nokia N-Gage, NeoGeo Pocket Color, or NEC TurboExpress?
