Are long ranged weapons supposed to suck? Because I can barely kill anything with them.

It seems like they're still not about damage at all...kind of disappointing really..

is this your first time playing a MH game? Long range weapons have always been more support when playing online with a team.

Range weapons are about support and item use.

Not counting Freedom Unite, which I literally got nowhere with, yes, this is my first Monster Hunter game.

Ranged weapons are more about team support, you have a much lower chance of getting hit and are a lot safer, hence you do not get to do as much damage

I like using hammers. They're slow and clunky but do great damage, especially when you connect with a good combo.

Ranged weapons are better used in groups.

GameFAQs is like a car crash - you know it's horrible but you just can't turn away.

If you are interested in getting good with ranged weapons, it is possible to solo with them. But you'll need prep time and plenty of item maintenance. Bombs, traps, special ammo, and other things can be used to great effectiveness when using these weapons but you have to think ahead and anticipate what will happen before it happens.

I wouldn't bother on the demo, lest you just want to try it, but don't neglect it if you want to be a sniper.
