Sorry, but PS4 specs are not what you'd consider low end. You're an insecure PC elitist. Which is the worst, since everyone knows PCs continually get better over the months/years while consoles are standard. And that's not even scratching the surface in the many ways PC gaming is technically superior to any console ever.

Besides, Sony investing in 8gb gddr5 will make it cheaper for you and your PC in the long fun when it's finally available in that high amount for PCs. Be patient.


I caught the part of the conference where Sony talked for a half hour about social networking and the system booting really really fast, then proceeded to show fairly underwhelming game footage and simulated images that are never actually going to make it into final game builds, just like every tech demo crammed system unveiling.

And I don't recall ever saying my PC in particular was a monster. It needs to be updated A LOT.

Doesnt change the fact that there arent any wide-spread PC's out-there that can stand toe to toe with the PS4 atm. Especially when you consider the price range.

You would be spending $2500+ to build a PC comparable to the PS4 atm.

Sony later released the full spec-sheet of the PS4, revealing that the GPU is capable of 1.84 TFLOPS. This is comparable to the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660, a GPU which, currently, costs about $230 - hardly high-end.

The CPU is based off of an 8-core AMD model. Unfortunately, we don't know which CPU it is based off of, exactly, but even the most powerful AMD CPU, the FX-8350 Vishera, costs only $200, and is comparable to the Intel i5-3470. Once again, nice, but hardly high-end.

8GB of GDDR5 memory is nice, but 16GB of DDR3 should be more than enough to equal it. 16GB, in case you were wondering, costs about $90. High-end PCs are including 24, 32, 48, or even 64 GB nowadays. Heck, my laptop has 16 GB.

For everyone just tuning in, it's a PS4 reassurance topic. The only reason it's even on the Wii U board is because the "Sony ponies" think they have to justify the PS4's press conference against the Wii U's reality. If this was really about how great the PS4 is, it would be on the PS4 system board.
