Wii U

Sony seems to be making a console, the PlayStation 4, that are for the real gamers that care about purely games and graphical performance. They even revealed the system's specs and game engines before the actual box. It was ever clear who they were marketing the PS4 to,

Nintendo without a doubt have a different approach, games don't seem like a focus but the actual tablet controller more than anything and trying to find uses for that. The key to the Wii U's success lies in making the Wii U's controller a killer app, which they haven't managed to do.

With things like Miiverse and TVii, it seems like Nintendo is gunning for the casual audience with their big emphasis on media entertainment...... sound like another competitor? That's what Xbox will be doing as well. Microsoft are going after the same audience that Nintendo is, not the hardcore gamer anymore like they did when they launched the 360. The industry has changed a lot since then, and so has the Xbox brand's direction and since they saw the Wii's success as well as the success in mobile gaming, they have been hungry for the non-gamer audience

I dont know what Nintendo fans hangup with Sony is, but the Wii U and PS4 seem to be focusing on different markets while having things that both markets can appreciate. Like the social features of the PS4's interface, but that doesn't take away how Sony is betting on the hardcore gamer while Nintendo is betting on the casual gamer. Microsoft is also spearheading the next Xbox to appeal to the casual gamer foremost, hardcore gamer second.

So I say the biggest threat to damning the Wii U is the next Xbox, if they capture the crowd Nintendo wants that could easily cripple the system's success.

Sony - Multi entertainment console, top hardware and processing capabilities
Microsoft - Home entertainment console, focuses on multi-media software


nobodies really "competing" thats just peoples way of saying, This is better than that.

i mean what would they be competing in:

Price - nintendo wins
Games (depending on your liking) - if its 1st party nintendo wins, 3rd party xbox or sony wins
Hardware - Sony wins
Software - Microsoft wins

theres alot to input here, so nobody can really Compete when theres always one thing something has over the other
