When people call Nintendo games cartoony, I always questioned what counted as "cartoony". Take for example Viewtiful Joe. It's a weird cross between a comic book & a Japanese super hero show. It's also flashy, explosively colorful, & rarely takes itself seriously. But strangely enough, I don't see many people knocking the game for it's visual style. Whereas Nintendo is often criticised for most of their games supposedly looking like kids cartoons. Another example is Valkyria Chronicles, It's an amazing game, but I always get Advance Wars vibes playing it. At first glance, it's bright, it's candy-colored, it's in a cell shaded anime look, & is even presented in a story book fashion. But it's a game that involves war, death, & racism. But, like VJ, not many people seem too bash the games asthetic even though it looks like something you'd see on Cartoon Network after school back in the days of old Toonami along side Gundam & Sailor Moon. So Sega & Capcom get a free pass for having a lot of Cartoony looking games but Nintendo doesn't?

It's Nintendo. For the Big N trolls will make exceptions.
My sig will never happen, but it would be awesome if it did.

Yeah, but I don't see a lot of people bashing their visual styles. It all goes back to my point, other developers can get away with making a lot of cartoony games, but Nintendo can't?

Why do people pick up on Nintendo's 'cartoony' games?

I dunno. For the same reason they've been criticizing the company for any slippery but let Sony get away with it..

If it doesn't puke blood or strangle itself with its own intestines it's cartoony.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
