What the hell are you talking about saying that Mario 64 and Sunshine are the same and that Banjo Kazooie is different? BK is just a Mario 64 clone, Sunshine is the most different of the three games. And what the hell are you talking about "layouts" for?

in mario 64, you have to select the layout before entering a level. For instance in one layout you can race the koopa, in another layout you can fight the bomb king, in others you cant. Sunshine is the same way, except just different theme

In banjo kazooie, the layout is the same and you can get all goals without exiting the level or switching the layout

My interpretation was that in Mario 64, the level switches up ever so slightly depending on which star you want to try and get, and you have to begin the level with that objective in mind. I haven't played BK, but I assume from the context here that you go into a level and you can achieve any objective during that run.

Still, it's not the best way to group things together, and it's a relatively minor factor in terms of a game's direction.

Yeah, that's a problem games had back then. You actually had to get good at them. - Mctias

It's going to be a Galaxy-esque game. The Galaxy series sold millions. Nintendo is going to do what is profitable.
