Wii U vs. PS4?

as far as what?

i have a wii u and i like it. i might even go as far and say i love it. only gripe i have with it right now is lack of games but its still early and theres quite a few coming out in the next couple months.

that said, i think the ps4 is going to be a better console overall. i cant speak in terms of power since i am in no way a computer expert but if sony keeps up the momentum they built with the ps3, they will do better than nintendo.

nintendo has a ton to prove after the wii. even though the wii destroyed and i mean destroyed the ps3 and 360 in sales, it didnt really have much going for it. i think that the wii u has the potential to be amazing and i hope it is. i just feel like all the people who bought the wii arent going to see a reason to buy a wii u since the majority of that market wont know the difference.

hopefully nintendo keeps the ball rolling and surprises us all with a ton of great first AND third party games on this thing.

just buy both? Is that such a crazy prospect? You don't HAVE to give fellatio to one company or the other. Pick the one you think you will play more first then grab the other when it drops in price or you save it up.

The Legend of Zelda and Xenoblade sequels? I'll buy a Wii U.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII and The Last Guardian? I'll buy a PS4.

It really is all about the games.

PS4 would be a great secondary console, as long as I can turn all the "spy" stuff and social integration stuff off. What ever happened to just being able to play games? I already have (2) computers, I don't need my game systems to constantly be connected. World is headed the wrong way quite fast.

I couldnt agree more on this!

PS4, no contest really...

I have the WiiU, PS3 and 360 and I play everything but the WiiU on a daily basis.

The fact that WiiU is nothing but a shoddy port console, just like the Wii was makes it difficult to want to buy anything for it.

PS4 will at least have new games, new IPs and better tech behind it. WiiU is a current gen console. It will be dead in the water in a year.

So invest in the future, not in the past.

I'll end up with all 3 but I'm waiting to see the price before I decide on a Day 1 purchase.

ps4 is stronger by a fair bit, but wiiU will "run" any game ps4 can just at "lower" settings much as a 4650 can "run" anygame a gtx560 can.

Not necessarily, if developers start tapping into that large (for a console) amount of RAM, it will be difficult to shoehorn a game that uses, say 6GB or so of the system's RAM into the 2GB on the Wii-U without re-designing the game/engine to compensate.

thats not how it works. if i have a core duo at 1.8ghz 2gb ram and a 4650 i can run crysis 3 just on low 720p and at lower FPS just like wiiU ports will be. Ps4 on the other hand will be playing on high/very high 1080P with the same or more FPS.

I'm well aware how tech/game development works, I've been gaming/programming since the DOS days - you'll notice I said if - if your game/engine is designed with a certain amount of memory in mind for the environments/characters, porting that game to a platform with 1/4 or less of the RAM is a non-trivial task.
