I have a home theatre system with only an hdmi out on the back no hdmi in and I heard that I need an lpcm reciever to get surround sound on the wiiu and my system says lpcm on the screen when I play my wiiu so should I be able to get surround sound? Also my theatre system is a Sony bdv-e300

The Wii U supports no licensed audio codecs, and therefore only does Linear PCM 5.1. Only HDMI has the bandwidth for this, hence no optical audio output in the Wii U.
