How many studios does Nintendo have working on exclusive Nintendo IP's?

They have a lot of great franchises we all love, but it seems they take longer than anyone to get them to the public, at least to me. Do they not have that many Nintendo owned studios working on games? I think its possible they could benefit greatly from having one or two more studios helping them speed through their pipeline and give us the titles we all want to see, and some new stuff too.

^Nintendo is only publishing Lego City Undercover, and its a third party developer owned by Warner Bros..

Warner Bros owns worldwide rights to all Lego video games

I just hope Sakurai takes it easy after this release. He has Namco as well as his company assisting with Smash so he doesn't have to kill himself over it, though I do understand his OCD for creating a good game and refusing to half-ass it. But he just went from making Kid Icarus straight to this. He deserves a vacation.

It looks like they only have 5 or so studios, as they don't own Sora either, they are just contracted to make the new Smash title....

Nintendo needs more 1st party devs...No wonder they have had trouble getting games out. Sony has 12.

EDIT- If the above post is right and they have 17 studios, I have no idea whats going on with them then. Ridiculous.

Didn't you read the post from squatch22? They have more than that, we just don't know what they are working on at the moment.

It's interesting though how they contrast though. Sony has only one Japanese studio, while Nintendo has only 1 American studio. It really speaks to how they see gaming
