Wii U
Do devs not remember that the Wii U has a normal Pro Controller?

I know of the controller. I just like the gamepad better.
digiblaster posted... Not everyone has a Pro Controller. Still, the GamePad has all the buttons the Pro Controller does, so it's no excuse - when developers blame the controller, it boils down to either laziness, or not wanting to port it to Wii U (but making it seem as though they did). This. They don't have to use the screen for anything spectacular, just incorporate off-tv play. Just use the buttons, if you don't have a good way to use the gamepads unique functions it's better that you don't. Odds are you'll just hinder the experience. Devs should take note of this. --- Sign this www.tinyurl.com/timesplittersHD
Eoin posted... The whole thing about developers being wary about the GamePad is misdirection. The GamePad is entirely capable of just being a normal controller, and a lot of people are fully willing to accept "can play the game on the GamePad" as a unique feature. When developers start using the GamePad as an excuse, they are (politely) lying, and there is another reason why they don't want to being their game to the Wii U. This. I know it's not a real article, but it's damn accurate here: http://www.p4rgaming.com/?p=1406 --- sirtonne posted... This topic is so stupid I had to slap my wife.
I think it's more of a problem of devs not realizing that the Game Pad has all the same buttons. The Pro Controller isn't standardized, which is Nintendo's fault. --- Still waiting for Diddy Kong Racing 2
Tsutarja495 posted... Using only an optional controller is a sure fire way to reduce sales. The only people who would even consider buying it would be the ones who own the Pro Controller. The problem though, is that the Pro Controller and the normal GamePad have almost no differences. The buttons are the same size and shape, they're spaced the same and are laid out on the controllers in the same spots. The only difference is the side with the left analog stick, the two shoulder buttons and the D-pad are separated from the other side by a touch screen. No other difference. They both feel exactly the same. I've used both the GamePad and the Pro Controller for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and I have no problem adjusting when switching between them. No, the hate these lazy-ass developers have about the GamePad really stems from how un-creative and/or ****ing stupid they are. They're either un-creative and can't think of anything to do with the touch screen, or they're ****ing stupid in realizing they don't have to do anything. In a nut shell, they're too stupid to realize they can just leave the screen blank (or add a basic map), or better yet, set the game up so it displays what the TV displays on touch screen so people can play off-TV if they want. Because they're so damn lazy, they just decide not to bother with the console at all. --- Opie & Anthony | Ron & Fez, XM 105/Sirius 206 XBL: Maxx the Slash | PSN: Maxx_the_Slash | 3DS: 3222-5637-7984 | Wii U: Maxx_the_Slash

That may be the case, but the gamepad has to remain always on and you have to manually shut off the screen. Also, some developers may feel that the way you need to play their game is not benefitted by the large layout of the controller.
Nintendo probably doesn't want the pro to be a necessity that people have to go out and buy. Like the circle pad pro and the reason they didn't add a second stick to the XL. If it was added there'd he games that REQUIRE it. Nintendo wants you to have it if you want it, but don't want it to be required.
XXShadowLinkXX posted... I keep seeing articles where developers are wary of Wii U because of the Gamepad and are finding it a challenge, with either original games or ports. They don;t have to stick with the Gamepad for the controls - why don't they just use the Pro controller? I don't really understand it, maybe its a money thing ... Oh they remember the WiiU has an Xbox 360 controller peripheral. It just doesn't matter. THe "Pro controller" wasn't included with every WiiU standard just like the Move wasn't included with all PS3's and the Kinect wasn't standard with all 360's. This of course limits who actually has one to a small portion of the already small WiiU population. Congrats. Your "Pro controller" is the same as a Move or Kinect.
SychinLegacy posted... LunarRoar posted...The problem is that the system doesn't come packaged with a Pro controller by default, that adds a potential $50 surcharge to any game that uses one as a default controller. Nintendo could have added the option to simply turn off the screen if the game didn't require it. Blaming the devs for everything just shows ignorance. --- Pokemon White FC: 0346 8604 2225 PSN: phayro_rip People Only Like Obama, that's the motto Romney, P.O.L.O.

Uhh the Devs are the ones that code the games. So Nintendo should fly some techs out to the Dev's office to write their code for them to shut off the screen? Are you really saying that? |
