Clearly, Nintendo's problem is an image one - they can't differentiate themselves from the competition. What better way to do so than raise the price? Consumers love high prices - it makes the item feel high-end, and makes the consumer feel rich (which, given how they just spent money, is rather odd). Oh, and they should charge $70 for games, too. That way, when people try to figure out whether Super Mario for the Wii U or Fun Fun Party Time for the Xbox 720 is the better game, they just have to look for the price.

In this economy, the only direction that should exist is up! If they want to lower the price they may as well go 5th party.
