Can I play Another Code R on an American Wii or WiiU?

Not without "doing stuff to it". Try this on the normal Wii. It isn't permanent modding and I'm sure it isn't illegal:

It requires and SD card and a copy of Smash Bros. Brawl though. It also requires you to start up Smash Bros before switching to the Another Code R disc every time you want to play it.

Both the Wii and Wii U are region locked by default.
