One of the main reasons I bought a Wii U, should be mandatory,I can press a button to see a map, worked for the last 20 years fine.

It's a really nice feature but I don't see myself using it often. If I'm in bed I might as well look at the game on my big screen TV with a much higher resolution, because it's right in front of me.

Not all games should have this feature available because if you're not going to make mandatory use of the gamepad and just use it for maps and menus, then the gamepad is not very special.
It's kind of the same situation with Skyward Sword when people would ask for optional motion controls. If the motion controls were optional then the game wouldn't be built around and make good use of motion controls.. It would be ****.

It's a cool feature but I really haven't used it besides testing it out when I first got the console.

As long as you're in my house, you'll do what I do, and believe what I believe. So butter your bacon... and bacon up that sausage, boy.

I don't own a Wii U (yet). But I wanted to add my thoughts:

I just can't see myself using the off-screen play. But that might be because I live in a single household atm.
So I'm not really interested in it.

I love it, because I can play while my wife still watches TV and I can hang out with her.
