Personally, I think that family friendly is a better term to describe them.

More villains need to be protagonists. BiS proves it can work.
Ridley, Ganondorf, Fawful, Bowser, and Dimentio all for their own games!

Really, its all comes down the maturity of the persons view. The ironically immature "hardcore" fan will no doubtedly call it kiddy (as in the rated M players who have even hit puberty yet).

People with more of an open mind towards gameplay and not obsessed with blood and gore will just view Nintendo as either Family Friendly or just simply fun. I fall in the fun category.

No, I think for them to be really kiddy would mean catering to just children and in the more dumbed down way. I think of them more in the market of suiting everyone's need. From my experience as a Transformer collect they are more like Hasbro in a sense, they have vastly different age group from you to older consumers. Of going the Nostalgic route to get older consumers on board while still trying to appeal to new gamers.

I have enjoyed Nintendo since I was a young kid playing the NES. While I still enjoy a Mario or Zelda game at times, it is Fire Emblem that keeps me loyal to Nintendo products.

Many Nintendo games can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Of course some games are geared more towards younger children, but both Microsoft and Sony have those type of games as well.

The only thing kiddy are the children using the term.

No, there're "Yes, but it's okay" and "Yes, and I disagree" and neither option is "Yes, Nintendo is kiddy". Again, top notch poll.

Edit: There also isn't a straightforward "No, Nintendo is not kiddy".
