to keep sakamoto as far away from it as humanly possible

But he did write the story of Super Metroid :o

James Cameron wrote Super Metroid, Fusion, and Prime.

My dad gave me some advice before he died. He said, son, if you see a beautiful woman, you have to flirt with her. It's rude not to. - Lowell

For the Wii-U, I personally want either a new FP Metroid or a 2nd attempt at a 3rd person 3D Metroid.

More villains need to be protagonists. BiS proves it can work.
Ridley, Ganondorf, Fawful, Bowser, and Dimentio all for their own games!

They really should do a new Metroid on 3DS before worrying about a Wii U game.
The DS never really got a propper Metroid. Just a pinball game and that other spin off thing.
Can't even remember what it was called. It's time for a new handheld Metroid that isn't just a quick cash in.

It's crazy how some people thought Samus was this hardened emotionless killer before Other M came out. All their preconceived notions turned out false and they wanna act like Metroid was ruined. OMG she's a human being with feelings noooo!
You Other M haters are so silly. I fear the day when and if Link ever gets a voice.

Samus has always had emotions (Fusion).
What people didn't like about Team Ninja's Other M was that Samus was portrayed as being mentally incompetent.
Remember that one point where she went all PTSD and had to be calmed-down by a group of manly Space Marines after she faced the same Space Dragon that she has killed only a dozen times.
Or that other time where she was being burned in the lava-room because "daddy" didn't tell her to wear her special-protective equipment (Varia Suit) that she ALREADY HAD, but need "permission" to wear.
Remember that?

That is why people didn't like Other M.
The gameplay was fine.

I agree. (the other spin-off was called Hunter, just FYI)

I would like to see a Super / Fusion type Metroid on the 3DS.
However, the 3DS has stabilized, and the Wii U >>>NEEDZ GAMEZ<<<

Ideally, EAD should be working on a 3DS Metroid title, and Retro should be working on a Wii U, one.

Either like Prime 3, or an amazing 2D game similar to Super Metroid.

Super Metroid had emotions, they were just "subtle".

I, personally, liked the "elevator-thought-bubbles" from Metroid Fusion.
The advantage that reading has over television is that you know what the protagonist is thinking without them saying it, or overacting.

Yeah I know she was sad when the baby was killed but she didn't collapse to the ground and wait for Adam to do something. I was also ok with how Fusion was done, even if it was more linear I still enjoyed it and the elevator monologues weren't over the top cry fest.
