So why are console games priced about $20 more than handheld games? (on average)

I certainly can't see how graphics can justify an extra $10-$20, especially when most console games these days are often dumbed down into linear corridors with quicktime events. I think I got more satisfaction from Etrian Odyssey so far than a game like Skyrim or The Last Story. It just makes all these arguments over graphics useless when they lack the charm of most SNES/PS2/(3)DS games and have a high probability of bankrupting the company despite everyone hyping up the pretty trailer.

Maybe because handheld games are often even more linear with even less depth and content than the typical console game. Hardly any handheld games could pass for full priced console games because handheld titles have such lower standards.

And yet that's where all the traditional RPGs such as Dragon Quest and SMT are at now. Why hasn't there been many turn-based RPGs announced for Wii U?

What? That's about the most archaic form of gameplay around, why would that be evidence of depth or content? Plus both Dragon Quest and SMT are both on consoles, so I'm not sure what that comparison is supposed to be about.

Handhelds only cost a upto a few million to make or less. Console games cost tens ~hundreds of millions to make/advertise.

There hasn't ever been a traditional Pokemon on console and those have more depth than any console game out there.

Anyways, handhelds are in fact the best gaming experience because there's nothing stopping you from playing whenever you want. They make a great avenue for being hilariously rude too. Someone annoying you? Just open up your 3DS right in front of them with an exasperated scoff.

Consoles have a higher perceived value.

Handhelds have always been less powerful than consoles, so its expected the games should cost less.

They're cheaper and easier to make so the development costs are less. The only thing that's more is the manufacturing cost since cartridges are more expensive than discs.

And this sums it up.

I always thought this was a common sense subject anyway ( not trying to offend anyone)
Plus considering the scale of handheld games is usually drastically smaller compared to a console game. Some are comparable, however ( in the case of RE:Revelations) but to ask much more for a handheld title usually doesn't sit well with people.
