England is in the grip of a triple dip recession and at the mercy of a government that continues to embrace austerity regardless of the fact that it hasn't helped and it isn't going to help.

No one is going to spend money on a new system when they are worried about how to pay for food, shelter, and clothing.

If you want to know why gaming sales are terrible in England, there's your answer.

exactly.

The other consoles are still selling the same as they were a year ago so clearly what he's saying is not true.

Not true? are you for real? Do you know how bad the UK economy is right now? Do you even know what the word economy means??

You clearly missed his point. What he's saying if that the economy is the reason for the Wii U's poor sales, then all the system's should be selling poorly, when in fact, they are not. Before you start making rude posts you should at least understand what it is that is being discussed.

Do you even realize how little the economy matters? Countries bail out other countries nowadays. This isn't the Depression.

I'm going to declare a new rule that people who don't live in the UK aren't allowed to talk about the UK. So much stupid **** gets said on this board about the UK, but "they are worried about how to pay for food, shelter, and clothing" has to take the cake.

I don't think the price cut is what saved the 3DS. I think it was Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario Land 3D. Hopefully the same thing happens with the Wii U.

When you put something on sale, and that something still doesn't have any compelling software, advertising, or store presence, then yes, a price cut (or sale in this case) won't work. Doesn't help that it's entering a market that is already flailing to stay relevant in that country.

This, this, this. It's hard to spend money on games consoles when your disposable income is drying up.

Wait, they only lowered the price for the Basic model?
Well, that makes it even more self-explanatory then. At least Nintendo took notice and will supposedly do something with retailers.

Wii sold 100m. Wii had a huge problem with games.

Casuals are not going to simply buy another Wii again cause there's barely any games on it, They know WIi U is the same. Wii U is going for the gamecube path again.
