Wii U sales aren't that bad.

57k sales in a 5 week month is worse than either 360 or PS3's worst sales per month so far

it got more burst sales in Japan due to Monster Hunter, but it's dropping fast

Wii U sales = 2.6 million in approx four months.
PS3 sales = 2.4 million in approx four months.
360 sales = 2.0 million in approx four months.

This is all world-wide. The Wii U did this with no must have games and most of them being poor ports of other systems along with almost no marketing xD LOOOL!

Something you fail to notice is that the PS3 was far more expensive and it still sold above 2 million units despite the hefty price and lack of games.

For the Wii U, which is coming off the ultra successful Wii, and that is priced at a max of $350 roughly half what the PS3 was priced back then, to sell *only* 2.6 million units is a massive disaster because it could not carry the momentum of its predecesor. *That* is why people claim sales are bad.

And other than Metal Gear Solid 4, what other game the PS3 had at launch that was a must have? I don't remember any other that I wanted.

It's not a disaster, it's mediocre. It would have sold more than six million units easily if it had more games out by now. It had a great launch of games, and anybody arguing the Wii U has no games must have started gaming from 2010 and up.

Can't argue with your post, but don't forget most of the games Wii U had are ports that failed to gather the attention they could have gotten a couple of years ago.

Yeah. I'm rather mad at Nintendo about this launch. I want more games :(

The PS3, 360, and the Wii U all had terrible launches.

I think we all need to stop being biased and just admit this already. It's not exactly a new thing for a console to have a crappy launch. Just saying.

Video games are awesome.

You need to factor in the economic crisis and that many Americans these days are broke and they simply can't afford a $300 console especially if they have other things to pay for like bills, food, etc. In Japan inflation is hitting them hard, world wide sales of video games has been very low because people don't have the time or money to buy them like they used too.

Also another factor is that many of the Wii-U video games are overpriced. Ninja Gaiden 3 isn't worth $50, it's not even worth $40, it's just an enhanced port. Same thing can be said about Zombie-U, FIFA Soccer, and other tiles.

also, people always factor out the shortages of these consoles when they come out. I remember you couldnt get a 360 even 4 months after it came out. Same with the wii.

However, I could have strolled into walmart last november anytime and picked up a wii u. Those "official" sales numbers are the units sold to retailers. Not sold to consumers. That is why many retailers are putting their own price drop into effect. They cant get rid of them.

How many times is this same argument going to be made?

The system launched well, the initial numbers were good, the problem is that they dropped off hugely after that, it's now doing worse than the PS3 or 360 ever did on a monthly basis. All this is is a deliberate misinterpretation of the numbers to make things look better than they are. The current sales are bad, just accept it.

They'll likely pick up again but it'll almost certainly never reach the numbers the Wii had, it'll do similarly to the N64/Gamecube in the long run.

You people are nuts. The WiiU had the best launch lineup since Dreamcast.

PS3 sold for $671.83 with inflation and you're saying its ok the WiiU is barely outselling it?

The Dreamcast didn't need ports from the PS1 and N64 to pad its launch
