After speaking with the sales associate for several minutes, they finally decided on getting the Wii with the Skylanders bundle for their kids, because the sales associate convinced them: it was cheaper, and it had a lot more fun games to play on it like Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Wii Sports, Mario Party, etc.

Why is this happening? Why are more people buying Nintendo's last generation system instead of Nintendo's current generation system?

Because kids usually treat their consoles and games like disposables.

Well depending on how young the kids are that should be fine but if they are old enough to know the wii is old news (despite a good backlog) then those kids are going to be pretty disappointed little spoiled brats lol Kids always want the latest and greatest plus the wii u can still play wii games so I still think it's a dumb long term decision and the associate kind of flubbed that one up. Obviously he wasn't on commission ;p

Those kids are not gonna be happy. lol.
But the PS4 has GDDR5 RAM. That's 2 more than DDR3! I bet PCs will take at least 5 years to catch up to this beast.

Why wouldn't they be happy? Its a gift, they didn't earn it. They should be happy for what they have, much like everyone else.
