Maybe It's the Name?

Would a better name have helped the system out any? I mean sure you can't get much worse than the name Wii U, but you can try for better. Thoughts? Rants? Ramblings?

I do think the name is an issue. Even a slight change like "Wii 2" would likely have performed better, because it's not immediately obvious that this system is a successor to the Wii and not some kind of minor upgrade.

What about something that doesn't have Wii in it at all? Instead have a name that might actually grab people's attention. Most of the Wii's customers were extreme casuals who bought the system and like one or two other games to go with it. To them anything with "Wii" in it will sound like the same system. Nintendo thought that using Wii would suck those people back in, but that's based on the assumption that people who bought it cared for the name in the first place instead of just merely accepting it.

I'm not going to give any name suggestions, but surely anything except Wii U would have been better. There's no reason to be loyal to a terrible console name that has always been terrible.
