The real problem is Nintendo's silence

You're basically just suggesting they rerun their feb ND. That was literally 1 month ago. Should they just sit there when they have nothing new to announce show the same games over and over for the next 2 years when nothing has changed all because some trolls are hyping news stories?

It was actually almost 2 months ago and that's a long time in gaming terms. And what I'm suggesting is that they expand on what they did in February to keep the hype up.

Is sony hyping anything? Is MS? Not really, it's mostly the gaming press, and a lot of them are already anti-nintendo. But see this is the double standard. No matter what exclusive nintendo secures it's not a problem for sony, those games arn't important anyway. Sony gets a game that sells FAR worse than what nintendo is offering and it's omg nintendo needs to respond now they're in huge trouble.

Sony had a huge hype event in February. And they definitely should be hyping Vita more, they even acknowledged that their failure to market it was a mistake.

This is what I get so sick of on this board. No matter what game is on a nintendo system it's never a system seller, even if it's from one of the top 20 franchises of all time, but games that don't even make about the top 100 or 200 when they're on a sony/ms system and not a nitnendo system are suddenly these huge system sellers.

No, clearly that's not true. Everyone knows 3D Mario and Smash are system sellers and will move huge hardware numbers as long as it's not too late by the time they come out. You just can't expect a game that you barely advertise at all to move hardware unless it has "Mario" or "Pokemon" in its name.

Historically in total sales the system is above average, in monthly sales it's only slightly below average for the past 2 months.

It's actually way below average for these two months. One or two months of that is no big deal, but if it stays that way until E3 that's pretty bad.

Look at the 3ds if you want some examples, and the DS, they both started slow, it took the DS a year to get games, and the 3ds about as long. Couple games come out and they're off to the races. You watch the big nintendo games are going to show up here, and the sales are going to take off.

You'll note that the 3DS situation did not solve itself. It took a price cut and some big releases to fix it. In the same vein, the Wii U situation won't solve itself either. It may not take a lot (throwing together a press conference where you show some game footage is honestly not a lot of work), but they can't just sit there and do nothing.

The problem with Nintendo they don't even have an identity/ can't even figure out what they want to be, it like casuals on one side and the core gamers on the other side, they're trying have their cake and eat it to. This also adds fuel to fire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExAPp6UvT3w

And they've already announced dozens of games. You keep saying they're doing nothing, but they have more games in development than I've ever seen at any one time from nintendo. e3 is coming right up and they don't want to overhype people. Remember animal crossing, it was shown at the 3ds's unveiling, shown multiple times between then and now, and at this moment it's still not released in NA. People arn't happy about that. Furthermore if they show off absolutely everything they're doing then for years there won't be any surprises.

Lets assume they do everything you want them to(which they did at the last ND) then a month from now when there's no new information to announce about the games you'll be right back here making the exact same topic. Or it'll be "oh look for the 10th month in a row they've shown screenshots of the same few games." They make announcements when there's something to announce.

You don't really have the luxury of surprising people when your system is struggling. If there's ever a time when they're going to need a boost, it's now. Saving the surprise until those games are almost out is largely pointless.

If two months from now they still haven't put out any games then they deserve to have these topics made. I think most of us are operating under the assumption that Pikmin 3, Game and Wario, and Wii Fit U are all nearly ready despite the lack of solid release dates (Nintendo themselves recently claimed Pikmin 3 would release in April in an interview). If they can get these out, these games plus the footage of new games should tide people over for a little while.

Though really, would it kill them to put out some new trailers every couple months? Pretty much every other company does it, and we saw how well this worked for Smash Bros Brawl. Playing into the hype machine is a pretty profitable thing to do.

Take the games we already knew that was coming and you'll have 3 to 4 games

"Nintendo has announced dozens of games".

Haha what? Anyway...

Maybe if Nintendo showed some games like 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Retro's project, that would give third partys some incentive to greenlight Wii U games. "Hey, Nintendo has some games coming this year that will definately sell systems. Let's go for it, if we start development now we can be done for the Fall season". That kinda deal.

Instead by the time people even see these games, the window will be closed on Wii U versions of games happening that are being developed right now.

Nintendo has been too quite about this system and the games from the beginning. The NDAs and info blackouts? How else are you going to get people excited and eager to get something when they know nothing about it?

I said it long before the launch that this info blackout might hurt them. Not only that, they are just learning to make HD games! That's part of the problem. Doing HD and learning the ropes was "last gen". They are behind the curve and are now playing catch up. They should been working on new games since before that Zelda tech demo. Remember how people were talking about how fast Darksiders II was up and running? Nintendo should have been able to port something over just as easy but there is one major flaw. Nintendo doesn't have any HD games with any HD libraries or resources! Like with the GC, it's up to 3rd parties to carry their system until they can fend for themselves.

This is what happens when you spend too much time making silly controllers.

The Wii was a great move, it brought Nintendo back from near irrelevance to being on top. They just needed to start working on these games earlier.
