Theres always a chance of dead pixels.

The problem with the controller screen is that its a very cheaply made resistive one.

Resistive screens are rather poor even at the best of times. :(

What's cheaply made about it?

Uh, no.
Resistive screens have a MUCH higher resolution than capacitive screens.

I'd MUCH rather have a resistive screen.
The only reason phones started using capacitive screens is because they're higher gloss, and they won't butt dial in your pocket like a resistive screen would.

I also want to be able to rest my stylus ON the screen, w/o it registering as an input.

Videogames should be using resistive, not capacitive.

Well... There is one thing.

Its part of the LCD panel.
Which means when your screen gets all scratched up and abused, you can't just replace the touch screen layer :(

I do hope they change this once production is cheaper.

He's absolutely right, its garbage. Go use an iphone or ipad, then go use the gamepad. Entirely different feel, respond, every aspect of a touchscreen is better on the iphone/pad.

But those screens are expensive to make, and Nintendo is cheap so they build things as cheap as they possibly can and cut every single possible corner. Old CPU, crappy touchscreen, interface runs like crap, graphical output on the same level as the PS3, which is 6 years old. Maybe 7 years?

Why does the retina screen on my ipad look significantly more vivid and crisp than my gamepad screen hmmm?

You're completely wrong and trying to make yourself feel better about your purchase. I own the U and even I can admit this screen is absolute crap. Its using the ancient touchscreen tech from 20 years ago, not new capacitive retina displays, which would jack up the cost of the system, so I get why they didnt go that route, but this screen is worse in every possible way than the ipad screens.
